Daquan was just 12 yrs old Feeling hungry, feeling’ bold Took the biscuits off the shelf Stuffed them in his pants Not a penny to his name And then the wrong arm of the law Took him to a cell and a cold steel door Well his mother was doing time For a disturbance and unpaid fine She was all alone No partner and no home Two children and a broken heart How was she to ever make things fit One day her mind just hit that switch Down on Inequality Blvd The doors are always open Old school tie connections Of privilege and direction Real estate portfolios The poor - fall through the cracks Some have plenty while others have none A will to work and to get thing s done But when all is stacked against you And the telco disconnects you And you got nowhere else to turn And your pensions put on hold For an appointment you never know’d He was made a ward of the state For his mother it was just to late But a mother’s love is true She did all that she could do Bide the time and dot the line Without a frame how can you ever weave A simple life that you can perceive Down on Inequality Blvd Talkin next vacation Stock market fluctuation Watchin sky television Feelin justified With Tax evasion

It moves like lightning- through every syllable It falls like rain- on all our hopes and dreams It weathers time- it’s always been there Evolution doesn’t lose this thing- it just keeps on keeping on It never lives in the now- but it’ll be there tomorrow Every minute every hour- just ghosting your thoughts Some people use it -as a tool It can make things happen- nothin’ good ever comes of it Fear----- and Anxiety Fear -------- Fear----- and anxiety Never treat it lightly Try and find what lies at the source It’s a driving force- of the stock market Goes hand in hand- with money and greed When the shit goes down – there’ll be wolves at the fair Blue chips –no shit- a company don’t care It can obscure – any sense of reason When the truth is silenced- tyranny calls Stalin and Mao- Bush and Blair Spartans and Athenians- got cooked in the gear.

Rage 04:12
What do you think - what do you do What do you say - when you don't really know What do you feel- not sure if its real Head in the sand- don't have a plan Who do you want speakin for you And do you think is speaking for them A twist of the truth - a slight of hand What you once thought - you don't understand Is there anything left that you would rage to defend #2 You got a safe job – got a nice home But the world you create- is only on loan Scared to commit- feelin unsure Lost in the small print- foot to the floor Dig up the land- foul up the air Terminal growth love affair The world that you get – to the world you pass on The land that sustains- theres no connection at all Is there anything left you would rage to defend A cry in the night - a prison off shore you once had a heart but you don't anymore A country divided wrong side of the law And a patch of ground - do you belong anymore Is there anything left that you would rage to defend #4

I know your hurting -but you can't put it into words You've got a history-that keeps knockin at your door But nothing ever changes, when your pushin’ against the grain Don’t you walk away Take all the love you can find Reaching deeper into your mind Let the anger go - just let the anger go To be the one you want to be You gotta live in peace with yourself Keep pushing away those feelings That are getting you into strife Neon city lights - back st alley ways Deals that go astray - spending another day Moving deeper into your pain Let the anger go- Let the anger go You keep fighting with the ones you love Pushing them all away Drinking like there’s no tomorrow So you don’t have to face today Don’t you walk away

Euphoria 04:19
Oh Oh Euphoria Oh Oh Dysphoria Oh Oh Euphoria are you real or a trick of the light Oh Oh Dysphoria, a rabbit in the headlights When the goal is scored on the siren call When your lovers sighs in the heat of the night When the true believers win the election When the rapture comes and your sent to heaven When you score a deal down at the 7-11 When the Pentecostals start speakin’ in tongues Chorus When your shares rocket and there’s money in the pocket When the country burns out of those returns And you find that the water around you is slowly rising When a love, turns into a mania When the Americans sell, subs to Australia And the Lady Of The Harbour becomes the jilted lover Chorus If your wavin’ a flag or singin’ an anthem When you find that the truth, Is being held for ransom When the words and the music and symbols just don’t ring true When your country is crying for the songs of the dreaming Where a river and tree hold sacred meaning Songs that spring from the very ground, you came from Chorus Instrumental What are the forces that drive us to genocide Greed and denial, the shadows that lurk inside And the big wheels just keep turning everyday Oh Oh Euphoria are you real or a trick of the light Oh Oh Dysphoria, a rabbit in the head lights Oh Oh Euphoria a head full of dopamine Oh Oh Dysphoria, a head full of pestacides Oh Oh Euphoria

Golden Moon 04:17
Hey Golden Moon, the further you rise I can see you turning silver right before my eyes Hey Golden Moon , don’t ya leave me behind Can You give me a box of tricks For my possible heart Cause I’m running on empty And I’m full of doubt Give me a sign, so I can make up my mind Where am I meant to be Do I stay on this land, when I’m missing The touch of your hand Chorus Now your shining your light and I’m in for the ride Your pullin’ me in like a tide Old Boab tree do I follow my dream Or do I follow my heart The Kimberley desert runs through my veins The city no place for me C’mon silvery moon your gonna be my ruin There’ll be no turning back

Somewhere beneath the surface The feeling- is coming on so near You can't run when your dreamin But you sure as hell know the fear And the wind it whispers to ya Try e figure what it says The arctic ice is slowly meting And your heart is cold and dead All the while the screen is laughing A shrill of ignorance and hate A lie is like a poison When so many take the bait Chorus paralysis tango - you cannot- make a move Although the sky is falling - theres nothing you can do There’s a pentacostal calling From the capital high upon the hill Nothing down hear is worth saving And your buck stops at the till All you love is slowly dying Rivers are turning into dust Coral gardens are graveyards But lets not think about that And as we all go on dreamin’ Of anywhere but where we are right now Till the oceans are steamin And we’ve set fire to the house Chorus paralysis tango - you cannot- make a move BP, Woodside and Chevron Have been screwing over you oooooo

Nauru 04:20
A living hell - a countries shame Where a child is deliberately detained A prison Island – you don’t need no crime Just be running from a devastating war A deafening silence – No words can leave And a scream devoid of any hope She said, give me to the sea Let the waves roll over me There ‘aint nothing here for me No tomorrow A currency of cruelty- votes to be bought And the country sales on amongst the fear and winds of hatred No rigour in thought – frail arguments Are washed up in a sea of daily news and empty slogans So my brother – open your eyes To a child who’se deliberately detained endlessly She said , give me to the sea Let the waves take over me There aint nothing here for me She said give me to the sea Let the waves wash over me There aint nothing here for me No tomorrow

about

Dave Johnson's new album - INEQUALITY BLVD – tackles subject matter ranging from the maltreatment and oppression of refugees and immigrants through to how the ever-increasing socio-economic divide plays out on the streets of our communities. Insightful, thought provoking, and brimming with compassion.
Recorded at Sundown Studios on the outskirts of Fremantle in Western Australia and co-produced with Elliot Smith, INEQUALITY BLVD sees Johnson channelling raw emotion and insightful storytelling into a groove ladened acoustic alchemy.
